28 April - 2 May 2010
This April, the inaugural Asia Fashion Exchange (AFX) event features not one, but four different events, to light up the fashion runway. These are the Asia Fashion Summit, Audi Fashion Festival, Blueprint and Star Creation, a fashion design competition to identify promising local and regional talent, and this exciting revamp to the Singapore fashion calendar is primed to give the city’s fashion industry a stunning new makeover.
Like most glamorous fashion festivals, Singapore will burst at the seams with a bevy of models and exhilarating runway shows over the course of five days. Watch Asia’s socialites come out in full glitter and glamour at the Audi Fashion Festival’s red carpet galas and champagne after-parties; while the best minds in the fashion industry gather for a sharing of ideas at Asia Fashion Summit. Blueprint at the F1 Pit Building at Marina Bay will house a three-day fashion trade show for local and international designers and buyers. Not to be missed is Blueprint Emporium that will see collaboration with nightlife institution Zouk to deliver a massive fashion-cum-music experience as international DJs take to the F1 Pit Building for a night to remember.
Such high-octane activities will ensure that the catwalk buzz spills over from the Orchard Road and Marina Bay into the mainstream crowd – getting both visitors and locals hyped up about fashion and style in the fashionable month of April.
While some events and shows may be exclusive and by-invite only, there will also be ticketed events and free events to choose from. A majority of these shows will be staged at the classy Tent@Orchard at the Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza in the heart of one of the best-known shopping thoroughfares in the world, Orchard Road.
Here, you’ll get your fill of the edgiest cuts and styles from international designers such Roberto Cavalli, Henry Holland, fashion houses like Mango, and well-known local labels like alldressedup – most of whom will be showcasing their much-awaited Spring/Summer collections. Tickets to these shows start from as low as S$20, so it’s a great opportunity to find out what’s in fashion this season.
The Asia Fashion Exchange is a key event for the region as it’s one of the only events in Asia that brings top designers, buyers, celebrities and the media together in one location. The glamour of the festival, combined with the networking opportunities of the trade show and seminars, as well as the excitement of discovering new talent, is likely to make the Asia Fashion Exchange a fixture on the Asian fashion circuit for years to come.
